Real Rehearsal Dinner: Mr. & Mrs. R

21 Jul

Yesterday, I posted the wedding day of my friend’s, the new Mr. & Mrs. R. Here is all about the rehearsal dinner from Friday, July 8th.

After the wedding rehearsal at the venue, dinner was at Alba just outside of Boston. We had a private room in the wine cellar to have dinner with the wedding party and families; we were all very excited for Saturday’s wedding.

Etsy Find: Mr. & Mrs. Pillows

19 Jul

I love these Mr. & Mrs. pillows I found on Etsy as a wedding or shower gift!  The price is right at just under $62, and it would be a cute addition to any couple’s love seat or bedroom.  The seller is also willing to just create pillow cases for less money. Isn’t the font so whimsical?!

PS: It’s been a while!  Stay tuned tomorrow…. finally posting wedding #1 pics from Saturday, July 9th!

Wedding Day Essentials

8 Jul

Tomorrow is my friend’s wedding; the day is finally here! See her shower & bachelorette.

While I already have my makeup essentials packed, there are some other items that I simply cannot forget for the big day.

  • Button-up shirt: avoid messing up your makeup and hair by wearing a button-up shirt that can be easily taken off. No fuss!  I love any of these cute ones from J.Crew: chambray, ikat, checkered.

  • Champagne: a little bubbly will ease the bride’s nerves and her bridal party’s too. Sip some champagne minis with straws; so cute for pictures!
  • Dancing “shoes”: bring along a cute pair of flats or sandals to dance the night away. Perhaps even coordinate with the other bridesmaids with matching flip flops, as Old Navy has them in every color for just $3.
  • Bridesmaid’s Survival Kit: pick up one of these at a local boutique (or purchase here) and don’t worry about any wardrobe malfunctions or if you forget something. From a folding hairbrush, hairspray, bobby pins, nail file, clear nail polish, to a deodorant wipe, mending kit and more, this pouch has it all!

What other essentials are needed for the wedding day?  Oh, and don’t forget your dress and shoes! This checklist has it all.

Sparklers!

Wedding Day Makeup Essentials

30 Jun

My friend’s wedding (wedding #1) is just a little over a week away. I am gathering my list of things I must not forget for the wedding day, and among them are makeup essentials!  I am getting my makeup done the day of, but if you are doing your own, or even if you’re getting your makeup done too as party of the bridal party, don’t forget these items.

Waterproof mascara– This is obvious, right?! If you’re on a budget, try Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash or if you can splurge, I love DiorShow.

Blotting papers– Don’t stress and if you become dewy, run to the bathroom to blot. I use Boscia.

Lipstick or lipgloss– Always have a little shimmer/shine/color on your lips. If you like the feel of a chapstick, try Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (personal fave). If you prefer a gloss or “Glossimer”, Chanel makes the best out there. If you are a lipstick maven, Revlon Moon Drops has many colors on the cheap.

Pocket mirror– Stick this in your clutch if you need to sneak some touch-ups. I like this Sephora swivel mirror or this simple black one from Walgreen’s.

Do you have any other makeup essentials for the bridal party to have on the wedding day? What brands/products to you swear by?

Real Bridal Shower: Future Mrs. L

27 Jun

This past weekend I hosted my second bridal shower this year (here’s the first) with the fellow bridesmaids for my oldest friend Devon. We put in months of planning; I was so excited that the day was finally here!  After mimosas and a lunch of salads & sandwiches, the bride opened many (many, many!) gifts and guests made their mark in the bridal shower scrapbook I put together.

Personalizing paper products

24 Jun

My friend’s bridal shower is tomorrow, and if you’re keeping track, that’s shower #2 of my planning (#3 I am hosting in early August).  We picked out this pretty gray & white, with red accent text invitation from Pear Tree Greetings. To keep the theme going in the other paper products, my brother created two signs to print out and have at the shower.  The is first an “in lieu of favors” sign, and the second is to encourage guests to make a scrapbook page for the bride in a scrapbook I got from A.C. Moore.

We are also planning to make small cards we can write each food item on. I love creating personal touches like this, while also keeping the theme throughout the shower.  White flowers and white & black accessories (like candle sticks and platters/bowls) will be used, as well.  Check back for pictures and details next week!

Have you created any personal details for a bridal shower?

Recipe: Summer Strawberry Salad

22 Jun

In the summer heat, I am all about eating no cook meals like fresh fruits and salads. For my friend’s bridal shower this weekend, we are serving a variety of salads: fruit, basic greens, and a strawberry greens salad.  Here is a sample 6 ingredient recipe for you to serve at your next bridal shower, dinner table, or to make and take to work for lunch.
