More Varying Bridesmaid Dresses

12 Aug

Discussed here previously, what do you think of varying bridesmaids dresses in a wedding party? Check out the bridal parties in these two recent weddings: the first from Naomi at Rockstar Diaries, the second posted on Lovely Little Details.

I love the vintage feeling of both of these weddings, and the bridal parties connect due to the fact that they are carrying the same flowers.

Real Wedding: Mr. & Mrs. R

20 Jul
After a year of planning, a bridal shower, and a bachelorette, the wedding of my friends the Rs!
The entire day went off without a hitch….beautiful weather, beautiful venue, beautiful flowers, beyond beautiful bride, and beautiful couple!
I was so happy to share the entire day with them and all of these pics remind me of what a special day 7.9.11 was, indeed!

Opinion: Varying Bridesmaids Dresses

27 May

I’ve seen bridal parties with varying bridesmaids dresses, meaning the bridesmaids all wear a different dress- either unique styles in the same shade/fabric

or completely different dresses in the same color

or completely different dresses that somehow all go.

What do you think of this option? Personally, I am a perfectionist and would want to be in the same dress as the other girls to be unified (perhaps I should say, anal, not a a perfectionist, haha). Then again, having the choice to pick my dress is nice; one of my brides let us choose our own dress in the same color & designer.

Do you appreciate having the option to pick your own dress, or do you think the bride should just do what she wants to do?

BHLDNed

12 May

When Anthropologie launched their wedding site BHLDN this past winter, fashionistas and Anthro fans were thrilled. Combining the same Anthro eye for detail and a boutique quality, BHLDN clothes, accessories, and decor for the bride and bridal party are exquisite.

While the bride is taken care of with all things white, here are some colorful bridesmaid items that caught my eye.  Behold…

Savoy Dress, Bowknot Pocket Shift, Primary Shift, Twirled Sweetheart Dress

Ruby Drops

Pompom Shoe Clips

Paris in the Springtime Cuff

Dahlia Pin

Butterfly Kiss Broach

Pompom Rose Headband

Would you buy any accessories for you dress from BHLDN?

The Dessy Group’s Newlymaid.com

11 May

A new site was announced this week that helps bridesmaids reuse & recycle your bridesmaid dress (see Monday’s post about Bridesmaid Trade). The Dessy Group launched of Newlymaid.com a place to send your used/old bridesmaid dress for a little black dress.  Brilliant, right?  Not only do you know that you won’t wear that dress that the bride swears you can “definitely wear again”, but now you can use it towards a piece of clothing that every girl needs: the LBD.

Checking out the website, the process seems fairly easy. You send in your old dress and then get a special Newlymaid price to purchase a discounted little black dress.

So far there are 6 LBD choices on the site, but I am eager to see what new styles are added.

What do you think of this new site? Are you open to selling your bridesmaid dress on a site like BridesmaidTrade.com or swapping it for something more wearable like on Newlymaid.com?

And the bridesmaid wore white?

3 May

Yesterday’s post on Pippa Middleton’s ivory maid of honor dress got me searching for real weddings where not just the bride wore white.

A quick visit to Style Me Pretty, and I found 3 weddings where the bridal party is wearing ivory/white dresses.

In one sense, I think it looks beautiful and cohesive, and as seen in the first photo, a bright bouquet really pops. In the other sense, I think it takes away from the bride being the only one in cream/white/ivory.

What do you think of this possible trend? Does it take away from the “special-ness” of only the bride wearing white?
