Royal Maid of Honor

2 May

Friday’s Royal Wedding was a beautiful display of love, tradition, and of course, fashion! Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge looked positively gorgeous in her custom Sarah Burton designed Alexander McQueen gowns.  Her sister and maid of honor, Pippa Middleton, also stole the show for the bridal party.

We first saw Pippa in an ivory, satin-based crepe cowl dress also by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. I adore this dress on her- it fits her perfectly and the shape works very well for her long, thin body type. While the bride normally is the only one in white, I liked that Pippa and the little bridesmaids also wore white.  With Prince William in red and the red carpet, they really popped. She performed her maid of honor duties in style!

For the reception, Pippa changed into an emerald Alice Temperley dress.  The color is gorgeous against her tan skin, and the jewels add fun and something special for the celebration.

I predict more white/ivory-clad bridesmaids in the future. I think we’ve got a trend coming with half-up/half-down, easy going hair, as well.

Loved Pippa’s 2nd dress, loved the hair (hers and Kate’s) and loved the shape of her bridesmaid dress – so flattering. But I couldn’t get past the white! Call me a traditionalist, but if I were to get married all over again I still wouldn’t dream of putting anyone else in white except me. 🙂

I know! it’s so funny to think of putting someone else in white on your wedding day. I wonder if this will start a trend.
